This set can be used in many ways. It can be used in class as a series of activities. It can be used at home by students for self study. The booklet can be used for the entire 2 weeks of the Olympics.

 

The guide below is to explain how to use each worksheet.

 

How to use:

 

Activity Booklet:

 

1. Opening / Closing Ceremony Bingo - watch either the Opening or Closing Ceremony and circle on the pictures if they are seen on the TV. Students can watch at home, or the teacher can show YouTube clips during the lesson.

2. Draw the torch and rings - students try to draw the missing half of the Olympic torch and rings pictures. They can then color it in.

3. World Map by Olympic Rings - students color in the continents of the world according to their Olympic ring colors. Students may need to see a map to color accurately.

4. Olympics Bingo - there are 2 ways to play. Students write the words in the grid. The first way is the classic bingo game. The teacher calls out sports words and students circle if written. The other way is for students to circle the words when they see the sports on TV.

5. Unjumble the words - students write the letters in the correct order to spell out the words. Students can check how to spell the words on the last page of the booklet.

6. Sports crossword - students look at the picture hint and write the words in the appropriate spaces. Students can check how to spell the words on the last page of the booklet.

7. Matching - students match the sports to equipment used. The answers are: gymnastics = ribbon, tennis = racket, rugby = rugby ball, basketball = basketball, equestrian = horse, triathlon = running shoes, swimming goggles, and bike, archery = target, boxing = gloves, canoe = canoe, sailing = yacht, golf = club.

8. Triathlon Maze - connect the letters from swimming to cycling to running to finish the race.

9. Find someone who can - students try to find 12 different people who can do the activities on the worksheet. If the class is small you can allow them to use the same person twice.

10. Olympics Wordsearch - students try to find all the words. Words are only horizontal and vertical.

11. Olympic Pictograms - students draw the missing half of the pictograms. Each missing side is the same but flipped. You can show students on Google Paris 2024 pictograms so they can understand better,

12. Design a gold medal - students decorate, draw and design a gold medal to be given at the Paris Olympics.

13. Medal Ceremony Color by Letters - students color in the scene using the correct colors

14. I want to watch Quiz - students draw an Olympic sport they want to watch on the TV screen. Then circle the words that match the sport. For example, swimming = solo sport, no ball, in the water. Students then make a pair and read their hints. Don't show the picture. Their partner tries to guess the sport their classmate wants to watch.

15. Find someone who wants to watch - students try to find 12 different people who want to watch the sports on the worksheet. If the class is small you can allow them to use the same person twice.

16. Meaning Matching - students read the sentence and write the sport that best matches the description. Answers in order: tennis, judo, golf, volleyball, football, equestrian, sailing, archery. Triathlon is unused.

17. History of the Olympics - students read the passage and write the missing words. Answers in order: Greece, four, different, Paris, green, flag, swimming, first. Then students answer the questions. The answers are: They were held in Greece. They will be held in Paris, France. They are blue, black, red, yellow and green. Breaking will be included for the first time.

18. Medal Tracker - students choose a country. Draw the flag and write the name. Then every time the country wins a medal they color in a circle for gold, silver or bronze. It will be good for students to choose different countries.

19. Olympic Sports - students check off the sports that they watch during the Olympics.
